Isabela Yolanda Moner (born July 10, 2001), who is mainly known as Isabela Merced in the industry, is an American actress and a singer as well. She is well known for her role in Nicklodeon’s TV series 100 Things to Do Before High School and has given voice to the character of Kate in Nicklodeon’s animated spin-off series Dora and Friends; Into the City.

Early Life

Isabela was born in Cleveland, Ohio to mother Katherine Moner and father Patrick Moner. She told about her struggle with English she when started grade school as Spanish was the primary language she used to speak. At the age of 15. She started her college.

Their house in Cleveland was burned to ashes when she decided to pursue acting. Her parents encouraged her to go for an audition for the local production of The Wizard of Oz, to distract her from the loss. Some director from a local theatre proposed to her family to relocate to New York, so that she could pursue a career on Broadway.

 

Career

She is a fan of Judy Garland and hence her movies inspired her to pursue a career in acting from a very young age. When she was 10, she made her Broadway debut in the production of Evita where she sang in Spanish. Her album Stopping Time was released in 2015 by Broadway Record.

From 2014 to 2016, Merced starred in her first major role as CJ Martin, the main character on the Nickelodeon series 100 Things to Do Before High School. In the same year, she started giving her voice to Kate, one of the primary characters in the spinoff series Dora and Friends: Into the City! She played the part from 2014 to 2017. She made an appearance in the Nickelodeon Original Movie Splitting Adam in 2015 as Lori Collins and was chosen for one of the lead parts, Sadie, in the Nickelodeon Original Movie Legends of the Hidden Temple (2016). Merced was cast for the June 2017 release of Transformers: The Last Knight, which came out in May 2016.

In 2018, she played a major role in Sicario: Day of Soldado. In the same year, she played the role of the adopted daughter in the movie Instant Family, where Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne played the role of her parents. In 2019, Merced appeared as the lead in the film Dora and the Lost City of Gold and also she starred in the Christmas romantic movie Let It Snow. The same year she did a Netflix original opposite Jason Momoa in the film Sweet Girl.

In honor of her late grandmother, whom she never met, Merced decided to change her stage name to Isabela Merced, and she shared this news with her fans via an Instagram post on October 14, 2019. Merced later clarified that her name was "just a stage name but it's got a deeper meaning" and that she had not legally changed it. The first music video for her single "Papi" was released on November 6, 2019, and the track itself was released on October 25, 2019. Merced's debut EP, The Better Half of Me, was released on May 22, 2020. In July 2020, Billboard listed Merced as one of the top 15 emerging Peruvian singers to watch.

Turtles All the Way Down is a film adaptation of John Green's 2017 novel, and Merced was chosen to appear in it. Filming of the movie started in April 2022 and was revealed in March 2022. Merced became a cast member in Fede Álvarez's Alien: Romulus in March 2023. Merced was cast as Hawkgirl in July 2023 for the DC Universe (DCU) movie Superman: Legacy (2025).
