South Korea's growing importance to luxury fashion houses is underscored by Dior's appointment of BTS star Jimin as a global brand ambassador.

On Monday, Dior announced its partnership with the singer, stating that it "solidified" her friendship with the brand and "continued" their relationship with Kim Jones, its artistic director for menswear.

She accompanied the post with photos of herself wearing various looks from the brand's Summer 2023 collection that she posted along with the post. Nevertheless, the announcement added that Park Ji-min, the full name of Jimin Park, is "an exemplar of the timeless spirit and singularity of Dior".

He is a multi-hyphenate singer, dancer, and songwriter and has collaborated with Dior and BTS gang members. WWD, which broke the news, reports the band's relationship with the French luxury house dates back to the group's world tour outfits designed by Kim Jones in 2019.

BTS were also the brand ambassador of Louis Vuitton

As a brand ambassador, BTS was also named by Louis Vuitton back in April 2021. The group has also previously worked with McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Samsung and other major brands. The ambassadorship with Louis Vuitton has, however, officially come to an end.

It is commonly known that Jimin is one of seven members of the BTS group. The band contains RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jungkook. As each group member completes their mandatory military service in South Korea, the group has decided to take a break and explore solo projects. Jimin has recently released a collaborative track called "Vibe" with BigBang's star Taeyang, another central K-Pop band that includes members of BigBang.

With Jimin's signing to Dior, the group can explore solo projects. In addition, it is now possible for each member to establish their brand on an individual basis. Dior has released a statement on its partnership with Jimin, saying that "the South Korean artist now embodies the spirit as well as the singularity of Dior style. He is the embodiment of modernity with a timeless signature."

With their first Grammy nomination in 2013, BTS has become one of the most prominent K-pop groups ever since their debut 2013. Although the band previously announced a partnership with the LVMH-owned Louis Vuitton, they are currently on hiatus to pursue solo projects, as some of their seven members have chosen to pursue their interests. In December, the oldest member of the band, Jin, enlisted in the South Korean military. It is expected that the band will not reunite until 2025 as a result of the military service requirement.
